I had the pleasure of traveling with my design-minded partner in crime - Aga Artka - to ICFF in New York City. After missing it last year, I couldn’t wait to get back. And how fun to watch Aga take in her first ICFF experience. On assignment for M Magazine, we had the opportunity to share some of the show highlights with the M audience…and now with you. We are excited for you to read about a few Milwaukee-area connections - how fun for us to be able to talk about local talent as part of the inspiring encounters at this international design show.

I had the pleasure of attending another ASID/IIDA Wisconsin Interior Design Student Career Day this past Friday at American Family Insurance. The committee created a great schedule of presentations and activities to inspire students and prepare them for their professional careers.
Aga Artka and I teamed up for a presentation titled “Who Are You?” We gave students a structure for developing an “elevator speech” and tried to get them to think “out-of-the-box” in terms of what they can offer a future employer. Every designer needs to understand they bring more to the table than a design degree and design-related experience. It is their other unique skills and characteristics that will set them apart from the competition. And if you have a few minutes with a new contact, how are you going to communicate that? What can you say to someone that will make a good first impression and leave a lasting impression?
I have said it once, and I will say it again…come to the 6th Annual Milwaukee Fine Furnishings & Fine Craft Show September 30th - October 2nd at The Garage at the Harley-Davidson Museum. Support furniture, art and accessories that are Made in America. Meet talented craftsmen. Learn the unique story behind each piece of furniture. Have fun, look around, and maybe buy a piece or two…or make a connection with someone who can make the perfect something for your home.
I hope to see you there!

Introducing–the egg design group.
Passion, creativity, hard work, and dedication have paid off for Lynn Tarrence. She launches her design firm with a home renovation in Bayside. Check it out this Saturday and Sunday (July 16 & 17) from 1-4 pm. These photos don’t do it justice. I have loved every minute of my time in the house and have light fixture envy!
I enjoyed catching up with Jennifer Espenscheid and Jeremy Shamrowicz at the SomaFlux Opening Party. INdustri Cafe provided the perfect setting for this “Organic Collaboration.” I am a big fan, but you can judge for yourself.
Visit www.thesomagallery.com to see SomaFlux work and much, much more.
I think this particular piece would be a great addition to an architecture or design studio!

Visit www.thesomagallery.com and www.thinkflux.com to learn more about my creative colleagues and be sure to stop by Friday night.
If your summer schedule is already full and you want a sneak peek, then stop by Swig this Wednesday, July 21st from 5:30-8:30 pm - The complete Gallery of SomaFlux work will be viewable @ www.thesomagallery.com after the party.
